Weather can be volatile in the rest of Texas, but cold fronts and gale force winds that usher those fronts in? They're a bit more rare on the Tip of the Texas Gulf Coast. Often times, the fronts sweep more east than south and leave the Lower Laguna Madre unchanged. The week in mid-October 2022, was exceptional for the wind experienced here earlier in the week.
Two daysof high winds, and one day of settling were followed by a typical bluebird day of low winds by Thursday. The water was quite churned, and clarity and shredded grass - shredded by the wind - made for some hard work, but in the end successful, fly fishing near the mouth of the Arroyo Colorado area of the Lower Laguna Madre.
